1. Imagine that as you walk along a path you disappear and reappear at each step.
2. These successive events of appearances and disappearances may take place at such small time intervals so that you don’t perceive the change.
3. Instead you can place motion detectors such as laser beams at regular small intervals along your path to track your motion. If you pass in front of such a detector then the laser beam will be disrupted and your motion will be recorded. But if you jump from place to place (i.e. appearing and disappearing) some of the detectors will not be activated.
4. The same goes for a photon travelling in spacetime. The photon can be seen as an object flashing on and off at regular time intervals equal to its frequency.
5. Does the photon exist during the time that it isn’t flashing?
6. Again you can place an obstacle on the photon’s route so that it will not be able to pass through the obstacle. If it could then it would have disappeared at one side of the obstacle and reappeared at the other side.
7. However this is exactly what happens in quantum teleportation- i.e. ‘spooky action at a distance.’
8. But is it the same photon which travels instantaneously from place to place?
9. Are we the same person at each step we make? Or do we really disappear at one step and reappear at the next step as an almost exact copy of ourselves?
10. In fact at each next second of our lives we constantly change our state. We regularly change position and time always passes by. Furthermore our thoughts and emotions always change.
11. If we consider that spacetime consists of small equal in size blocks of a grid then we constantly pass from one block to another one with different properties- at least the passage of time makes all blocks different.
12. Is spacetime the big secret hiding behind quantum teleportation? Is it because we are embedded in spacetime that we don’t perceive the instantaneous change?
13. A point is gliding like a fish in spacetime flashing in the darkness…
14. A person is walking towards the edge of a cliff, he stands there for a while and then suddenly he jumps to the other side…
15. But there must be something in the gap which makes the two edges different…
